When coverage is being offered to those leaving a group plan, ‘guaranteed acceptance’ will also require the CARP member to apply for coverage with 90 days of their group health plan ending and 60 days before their life plan ending.

You have 12 months from the date you were charged for a health and dental service to submit your claim for reimbursement.

You can obtain your previous year's Health & Dental premium (tax) receipt by going online to edocs.memberhealthplan.com. Receipts for 2018 will be available on February 7, 2019. To access your receipt you will need your plan and identification number found on your benefit card. If you have previously registered online, please sign in using your email address and password to obtain your receipt. Your coverage generally starts on the 1st of the following month for health and dental plans that offer guaranteed acceptance, and the 1st of the month after your plan is approved for health and dental plans that require a medical questionnaire. However, if you buy FollowMe™ Health Insurance Plan for CARP Members within the first 15 days of the month, you can choose to start your coverage on the 1st of the current month. As soon as your coverage starts, you have access to most of the benefits in your plan, with the exception of some dental benefits that have a waiting period.

We ask you to pay your first two months of premiums when you buy your policy. After that, your premiums are due on the first business day of the month.

Call a Manulife representative with the Drug Identification Number (DIN) and we will tell you if your plan covers your medication. You can generally find the DIN on the medication bottle or box; it is usually 6 digits long. If you can't find the DIN, check the Health Canada website or ask your pharmacy or doctor for this information.

Your application is approved right away if you applied for a health and dental plan that offers guaranteed acceptance and we received your initial two months premium. For health and dental plans that require a medical questionnaire, the approval process may take a few weeks.

We cover diabetes supplies such as test strips, lancets, and needles under the Durable Medical Equipment benefit. We do not cover glucometers, insulin pumps, and any related treatment or procedures.

Your plan number is 5 to 6 characters long and can contain both numbers and letters. You can find your plan number on your Manulife wallet card.

If you’re hurt in an accident, your FollowMe™ Health Insurance Plan for CARP Members includes a fracture benefit as well as an accidental death and dismemberment benefit. If you pass away, your family gets a survivor benefit that continues their coverage for one year.

You can apply for the FollowMe™ Health Insurance Plan without a medical examination or questionnaire required at time of application and your coverage is guaranteed as long as you or your dependent apply within 90 days of the loss of group health and dental benefits (and subject to receipt of initial premium payment). 

This Plan also allows you to choose from Basic, Enhanced, Enhanced Plus or Premiere coverage based on your personal needs and financial situation. 

A death benefit is the amount paid to your beneficiary if you die while your life insurance plan is in effect.
A living benefit is the amount paid to you when you meet certain conditions. For example, for example you can receive part of your life Insurance death benefit while you are alive if you are diagnosed with a terminal illness with less than 12 months to live. 

All our plans have a 30-day money-back guarantee. If you are not completely satisfied, return your policy by mail to Manulife within 30 days of the issue date. We will cancel your coverage and refund any premiums you paid. 

Your life insurance premium is due on the date your premium notice indicates or on the first day of each month if you are paying monthly. We provide a 30-day grace period, but we will cancel your coverage if you do not pay your premium within that grace period.

FollowMe™ Life Insurance Plan

FollowMe™ Life Insurance Plan for CARP Members was designed to provide life insurance coverage to CARP members who are losing their group life coverage. The Plan is designed to start once your group life coverage stops.  Coverage is available from $25,000 to $200,000 (equal to or less than your group life benefit amount) and as long as you apply within 90 days of your group life insurance ending, completion of a medical questionnaire is not required and your acceptance is guaranteed (upon receipt of your payments).

You can purchase coverage amounts from $25,000 up to $200,000 (equal to or less than your group benefit amount) as long as it is within 60 days of your group life coverage ending.

No, in order to apply for the FollowMe™ Life Insurance Plan, your spouse must have been under your group life plan.

No, there is no medical questionnaire required at time of application for the FollowMe™ Life Insurance Plan for CARP Members.

Guaranteed Issue Life Insurance

No. The monthly premium you pay when you join is the premium you will always pay - until age 100 when we will pay you your life benefit amount.

Benefits will not be paid for suicide within two years of the effective date of the policy. In such cases, total premiums paid will be returned without any interest adjustment. Benefits will not be paid if death is due to a Pre-Existing Condition. In such cases, total premiums paid (with 10% interest compounded annually) will be returned.

A Pre-Existing Condition means any disease or physical condition, whether diagnosed or not, for which symptoms occurred or medical treatment was sought, recommended, required, or obtained, from or by a Physician (medical treatment including any medical advice, consultation, care, diagnosis, treatment or service provided by a Physician), or for which drugs were prescribed by a Physician, or taken by an Insured, during the 24-month period immediately preceding the Effective Date.
